Dear Family,





Yesterday was a fun day inspite of the colder weather. What's with the weatherman, anyway!! It was fun being on the boat for the first time of the season. I'm glad Steffani brought enough towels for all of us to huddle under. We missed Scott and Amy's family, of course, and Tammy's family on the boat. We're glad she came up to the cabin afterwards for a barbeque.





Speaking of the cabin, Dad and I finally made it up there. We were worried about the roads being impassable since we've had so much snow and rain through May. However, the roads were fine. The worst part was in our driveway where we get runnoff in the middle creating a giant mudhole. We arrived on Friday late afternoon and spent a bit of time vacuuming up the winter bugs, dusting and getting dinner. We spent the evening watching 24, or Jack, as we call it. We are on season six.





Saturday we spent driving around Heber and Midway which are very charming places to visit, and topped off the drive by a trip to Granny's for a milkshake. Ummmmm! We picked up a few things to redecorate the cabin with. (More Jack)





We got up at 5:30 Sunday morning to go in to SL for the broadcast. I really like the holiday broadcasts, no matter the holiday. After the broadcast a 92 year-old gentleman spoke to us for a few minutes. He is a colonel and was wearing his beautiful uniform. He related that he was in Normandy on D day during WWII. To boost the morale of the soldiers he played his trumpet for them. So, he played his trumpet for us Sunday morning--the same song that he played for the soldiers on D day, Danny Boy. There wasn't a dry eye in the room. He did a beautiful job and created the best spirit for us to begin Memorial Day.





After the broadcast we went to the cemetary to place the traditional sun lawn ornament on Bryce's grave. He was honored with many flowers, and even a golf ball signed by Steffani's family. We remember him and miss him.





After attending sacrament meeting in an earlier ward, we went back up to the cabin and spent a lazy, wonderful afternoon before commencing Jack. Darn him, we stayed up until 1 AM since we couldn't turn off the TV!





Monday we went boating and had a barbeque, then returned home. I'm sorry I don't have any pictures to post. Anybody? Dad or Steff will have to teach me how to put pictures on.





Scott and Amy, how did you spend your holiday? We're excited for Avery's birthday on Wednesday. Please post about her celebration.





Here is a recipe that I got from one of my calendars. I haven't tried it yet, but if any of you try it, give us a review.





UPSIDE-DOWN PIZZA





2 lbs. ground beef


1 onion, chopped


4-oz. can sliced mushrooms, drained


1- 1/4 oz. pkg. spaghetti sauce mix


2 8 oz. cans tomato sauce


1 cup sour cream


2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese


8- oz. tube refrigerated crescent rolls





Brown beef, onion and mushrooms in a skillet; drain well. Stir in sauce mix and tomato sauce; pour into an ungreased 13x9" pan. Spread sour cream over top. Sprinkle with cheese.





Roll out crescent dough; pinch seams closed. Stretch dough to fit over top of pan, touching all edges. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Let stand several minutes before serving. Serves 6.
